Plan 2009: London Leadership Team

Vision

As disciples of Jesus we envision a world that has been totally evangelized within our generation (Matthew 28:18). We envision a church of like minded disciples (Philippians 2:2) of all nations (Matthew 28:19), unified in Christ (Ephesians 4:6) and upholding the same standard of discipleship everywhere (Luke 14:25-33). We envision a church refined by hardships and persecutions; mature and complete not lacking anything (James 1:2-4). We envision a church of humility and sincere and deep friendships where people can draw to close to God and where God can draw close to them (James 4:8). We envision a church that will inspire the next generation to take up the Sword which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17) as powerful preachers and wade into the spiritual battle following the example of Christ as we are. This is the compelling and vivid vision of Christ which moves our hearts and bodies to action! (Titus 2:14)

Values

As a church of disciples we value sincere faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13), the greatest of these is love. Faith is to be sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is the very heart of discipleship and through it we have fellowship with the invisible church, triumphant (already asleep) and militant (those currently struggling in life). Hope is the barrier around our faith which is created when faith steps out into the cold fallen world. It springs to life as faith confronts the evil of our suffering world. Hope is as contagious as cowardice and we guard it zealously. Love is the greatest of our values; for there is no greater love than to lay down ones life for ones friends (John 15:13). We value being part of a church where disciples spur one another along to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24) as Jesus unapologetic commands all disciples to do (Matthew 28:20).

Purpose & Mission

The purpose of the church is to provide a living, breathing, growing personification of Christ to the lost world (1 Corinthians 12:12). The church was called into being by God as a major element of His plan for mankind. God wants everyone in the world to be part of the church (Daniel 2:35). The church is not a meeting, not a building, not a show but the church is the family of God (Ephesians 2:19-20). In a world where so many are asking what God wants from them, we know our purpose as a church is to simply gather together as many as possible so that we may be purified by Christs blood (Romans 6:2) in baptism and adored and cherished by our Father who ransomed us. We have been drawn together with all our appointments and gifts to be prepared for works of service so that the church may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God so that we may become mature and attain the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). The purpose of the church is to draw close to God with our hearts and avoid the dangers of vanity, rule taught by men, empty worship and meaningless ceremony or ceremonial leadership (Isaiah 29:13).

Strategy

As a church we believe that we must be silent where the bible speaks and speak where the bible needs to be applied; both when it is popular and when it is not (2 Tim 4:1-5). Preaching the Word of God is the only way that this lost word will come to be saved. Disciples come to be saved by the preaching of the Word (Romans 10:14), are trained by the preaching of the Word (2 Tim 3:17) and sent to preach the Word (Matthew 28:19). Disciples are Gods chosen instrument to reach the lost world. As such the primary strategy to attain our vision is to baptize, train and send disciples. All other programs, goals, missions, and operations are simply to support this main and overarching strategy.

2009 Prayer Goals

As a church we have prayed for, fasted over and pleaded with God for the right goals to move us forward this year. Our audacious list of goals is clear and compelling, serves as a unifying focal point of effort, and acts as a catalyst for team spirit. It also addresses in inequities and shortcomings that we have seen in ourselves and wish to change.

1. Improve our ability to reach out to the lost

2. Improve our Love

3. Build Credible Campus Ministry

4. Equip the Members

5. Strengthen our Church and the movement of Churches around her

Conclusion

It is our strong belief that by boldly committing to accomplish the actions that will lead to our goals we are enabling God to do incredible miracles for us and for all those who we love. As a church we resolutely set out, with all of our hearts, to make our yes our yes and our no our no, to do as we said we would do, and to seek help from God and man in doing so. With tears, in fasting and prayer, with the joy of faith we pledge to fight the good fight, to fight to win in the year God has set out before us. Please pray for our integrity and love for the brothers and sisters and the lost.

To God be the Glory
