The Easy Yoke: By Tim Kernan

Matthew 11: 28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Well its been an incredible two months and 18 days since Lianne and I arrived in London. That being said in terms of the relationships we’ve built it feels like we’ve been in London for years. The London church has grown from about 4 to 20 disciples! We prayerfully have three more in the pipeline which we will announce soon. That’s over 500% growth with a new member every 5 days since we arrived. What’s more is that this was accomplished without tarnishing the standard of discipleship or the unbreakable sense of family which the church guards so jealously. We went from one small bible talk in the east to four bible talks covering the east, center, west and campus. It has been an absolute war and it has been glorious to fight next to all the valiant brothers and sisters but especially our servants in leadership: Steve, Jack, Jacques, Jeanette and Chris.
Lianne and I recently spent six days scouting out the land and meeting disciples in Paris for our future congregation there, God willing. Paris is a beautiful city, much cleaner and more friendly than I heard. It certainly reminds me of Quebec where I grew up. They seem to love Canadians and find our Canadian accents cute instead of irritating which encouraging! After 6 days we have a much, much clearer perspective on the way forward in continental Europe.
One thing that God has done in London which gives me butterflies is the advancement on campus. We have five dedicated brothers working tirelessly to build a campus ministry. They have been out daily on campus to meet new people and study the bible with them. The vision easy and not a burden: a bible talk in every university and college in London, Europe and the World. It will take men and women of great passion to take up the banner of Christ and advance it with great love and faith. God is already assembling his fighters for this purpose.

When you have a goal you need a captain to achieve it. God works through people and after lots of prayer and consultation we appointed Chris Van Staten as our campus minister. We have total confidence that God will use him powerfully to accomplish His dream of an evangelized world. To further the campus goal, today I have the pleasure of inaugurating the official campus website of the London International Christian Church: www.lecturehalloftyrannus.org The first campus ministry under Paul evangelized their whole region. Why reinvent the wheel? On this site the campus ministry will post up articles weekly that will encourage, educate and spur on many. We are very proud of our campus ministry and we work hard to make sure they know it.
Well this week Lianne and I are heading back to Toronto to tie up some loose ends and build up the church there. I’m proud to leave Chris in charge of the congregation while I am gone and I am sure this opportunity will strengthen him and the bible talk leaders as they flex their spiritual muscles and step up to the plate in a practical way to lead.
In conclusion, its been a wonderful couple months and we are looking forward to whatever God has planned for the next year!
